Canyonlands National Park
Carved by the Colorado River and its tributaries, the canyons, and buttes of Canyonlands form some of the most impressive views I've ever seen. One of the four districts of the park named "Island in the Sky" is truly just that, and on a clear day, it seems like you can see into the distance forever. Less than a 30-mile drive from Arches, the park looks and feels completely different and is a testament to the biological diversity of the southern Utah desert.
